Wolfe Ck Crater and Tunnel Ck

We had to cancel or postpone a few places on our itinerary due to the border delay, but still managed to visit Wolfe Ck crater, south of Hall's Ck. This was a 2 hour drive south-east of the Great Northern Highway turnoff. From a distance, there was not much to see, but a short walk to the crater rim revealed a unique sight - the centre of the crater was full of purple mulla-mulla flowers. Interestingly the interior crater walls are steeper than the outside, and the ground level inside is 20m lower than outside.
We headed back to highway and found a free overnight camp at Mary Pool. We were quite pleasantly surprised at the facilities there.
The next day we took a shortcut and turned north after Fitzroy Crossing towards Tunnel Ck, instead of continuing on to Broome as originally planned. The rough road passed through dramatic scenery - limestone outcrops formed by ancient reefs.
Tunnel Ck is one of many caves in this area. It was quite an adventure to walk through it - at one point we had to swim.
The most exciting moment of the day however was finally meeting up with my brother and his wife who had driven from Perth to join us for the Kimberley part of the trip.
