Mt Isa
After a sociable coffee at the bakery in Winton, we headed off for the last leg of the journey to Mt Isa. The distinctive flat topped mesas of the Winton district continued for a while.
There was less traffic as we headed further north-west. I had to admire this traveller, with mobility scooter strapped to the back of the caravan.
From Cloncurry the road became quite hilly and windy, as well as busier with road trains. We were glad to reach Mt Isa in daylight. Stretched the legs after about 5 hours of driving by walking up the hill to view the sunset.
The following morning my friend Janet, who had driven with me from Brisbane, flew home. My husband Pete, who works in Mt Isa, and I then went shopping to restock supplies for the next stage of the trip.
